Infectious and Inspiring People Show Me the Way...
Trip Start Dec 10, 2011
60Trip End Sep 29, 2012
Being who you are just how you are and not changing for anyone or anything is something I have learnt through my journey traveling. Also learning a lot about myself from others and in particular meeting fantastic, smart, people who love what they do every day has been infectious and inspiring.
So much so I am starting to reinvent myself, but not change. Definitely not change whatsoever just enhance who I already am.
I am pretty excited about this, and it feels like the right time in my journey and time away from the stresses at home, to do it too. Although as someone told me recently, I am pretty excited about a lot of things!
The reinvention though does not start with the goal or what as I expect as the outcome, I am starting with what my assets are. What can I do?, what do I love to do? I am working on how to showcase my wonderful talents. I am possibly going to give this 'remote working’ thing a try and see what comes of it!
I have a new view of life now from my travels. I see the world and my life within that very different from when I started out more than eight months ago. I don’t think the conventional 9-5 working life will suit me anymore, I don’t think I can say the word ‘settling’ will feature anytime soon in my life, at least not in the sense of staying in one place at one time.
I think I may look to adopt the flexible working lifestyle, being able to work to live and not live to work. I was inspired by a lot of fellow travelers and ex-pats in Medellin who are doing just this, with lots of ideas and discussions on how it could work for me, that I now feel a plan coming together.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... Most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." wise words from Steve Jobs.
It is really cool when things just fall into place. Some of you will know I was procrastinating an awful long time since being in Medellin of what to do next? Where to go? And how to supplement my travels with a little income to keep going for longer.
Well now I have made my decision, I will be in Medellin till my visa expires, working on a few of my plans including moving to a different apartment in a new area for me in Medellin. This is so I can write and swim more regularly and do more of 'what I love'.
After that I am returning to good old 'Blighty'. Blighty is British slang and a term of endearment by the expatriate British community or those on holiday to refer to England.
Yes you heard it here first I am returning to the UK. I am very excited about seeing all my friends and family again and at long last drinking a proper cup of tea.
With that please put the kettle on in time for my September return!
