... San Jose, Costa Rica!

So the ticket is booked I leave on 6th January, just enough time to get everything sorted. Thanks to the lovely lady in STA Travel I have a great plan for my trip completed over two cups of tea and about four hours, that's a lot of chatting!

It's all subject to change of course, as I have an option with my ticket to make multiple date and time changes to my pre-booked flights so this gives me a bit of flexibility if I would like to stay somewhere longer, or even get out of there quicker!, here's the revised destinations...

Friday 06-Jan-12 Depart London via Madrid to San Jose, Costa Rica.
Ola! Going to first learn some of the lingo, and take Spanish lessons. Possibly also see some of the places in Costa Rica and Central America.

Thursday 02-Feb-12 Depart: San Jose, Costa Rica to Caracas, Venezuela.
Then after visiting Venezuela and making it to my friend's wedding, I am planning to go to Equador.

Wednesday 25-Apr-12 till 02-May-12.
I'm booked on the Gap Adventures Inca Discovery tour to walk the Inca Trail to see Maccha Piccu, Peru Then I am going to see where my travels take me further into South America.

Sunday 27-May-12. Depart from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Spend roughly 16 days here in SA, possibly do the hop on/off bus from J'burg to Cape Town and back, visit the Kruger National Park, let's see! This was the surprise part of my trip as it was a better way to get to the South-east Asia and onto India part of my trip, plus as a bonus I saved about 350 on the flight costs giving me more dosh on a cool trip I'd like to do on the journey.

Wednesday 13-Jun-12. Depart J'burg, South Africa via Abu Dhabi arrive in Kuala Lumpur 14-Jun-12.
Visit around South-East Asia, need to apply for my visa for India here and book my flight to Delhi to arrive sometime in September.

September-12 (exact date to be confirmed) 2012 arrive in Delhi, India.
Visit Golden Triangle area, possibly Varanasi.

Go to Mumbai to visit friends, cannot wait for this part of the trip!I have wanted to visit India since I was fifteen years old, I remember doing a school project on interesting countries and I chose Incredible India, even after working with many colleagues from India I still did not manage to go, so finally I am!

Rest of trip is to decided later for my India part, but possibly head down South to Kerala, Goa before returning back to Mumbai, I know I would like to be in India for the 2012 Diwali celebrations which is this year from 10th November.

Leave Bombay/ Mumbai to London, late November/early December 2012.

Enjoy your travels, Charlotte! Remember to experience all the local cultures by being a local and not a typical tourist....just some advice I received when I did something similar. Also see your passing thru abu dhabi...keep me posted and we can get together. Safe travels my friend!

thank you and I agree, it's important for me to be safe when I travel and also get more of a local experience to see the culture first hand, I am pleased to say my first part of my trip will be with a family homestay in Costa Rica... later on I will be attending a Venezuelan wedding and spending time with my friend and her family for the preparations. I cannot wait! My flight is stopping at Abu Dhabi before I change to go to Kuala Lumpur, so if I can leave the airport and 'do lunch' that would be cool - will let you know nearer the time

Charlotte I wish you a Safe trip...Keep me posted I can't wait to start reading your entries. It is good that you will be spending time with family first and friends on the way. Post as many photos as you can each time, mix with locals and as Karnig stated, don't be a typical tourist. I wish I could one day do a similar trip. The places you are visiting are truly so interestin.
God be with you.

Hello Charlotte,
I found your comment in Popi's Greek blog. We've just got back from Turkey and I'm slowly writing my blog. What a wonderful country!
I'm retired and my wife will be retiring in a couple of years, so we plan to do a RTW, spending our children’s inheritance (ha,ha).
I lived in Guatemala for six years and in Peru for 12 (my wife is Peruvian),
Good luck on your trip, and I'll be following your exploits with interest.
