Happy Thanksgiving! We are currently in Singapore and having a great time. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Since we are 12 hours ahead of those of you in Middle America we are ending our Turkey Day as you are beginning it. We hope you all have a great day of giving thanks for the many blessings in life. Here is a recap of our day.

We started out by doing a little shopping. We realize we are reaching the end of our journey and we have not spent much money on gifts. So we are trying to find things for those we love. Following our quick shopping trip we headed to Sentosa Island. This is a small tourist island off the coast of mainland Singapore. We were hoping to find the beach, go to an aquarium called Underwater World, play some miniature golf and watch a lazar light show. We knew the day would be full, but were looking forward to the fun.

The incredible thing about today was that the sun was finally shining. We have been in this hot, muggy place and it has been gray skies and rain some part of every day. We have been here five days and we hadn't seen the sun. As we woke up this morning the sky was bright blue with lovely white puffy clouds. We knew it was going to be a good day.

After we took a cable car across to the island we found our spot on the beach, but we were too hot to sit and enjoy it. Instead we went swimming, enjoying the lovely water and nice scenery. Charlie found a palm tree to lay on. It was a great afternoon. We realized we were getting sun burnt pretty quickly. We tried to dodge the rays as best as we could. We went swimming some more and realized we had to get out of the sun.

Underwater World was calling our name. We found our way to the interesting aquarium and enjoyed watching the colorful fish of many varieties swim around. We had missed the dolphin show, but still managed to have a good time.

Since it is Thanksgiving we were hoping to find some good food. There weren't a lot of options on the small island. We were very close to settling for Burger King when Charlie spotted a boat that said it served Tex-Mex. We checked out the menu and decided to splurge. I had fajitas for Thanksgiving dinner while Charlie enjoyed a variety of steak. It was a good meal, although I am sure it can't compare to many of the feasts you all enjoyed. After dinner we found our way to the lazar light show. It was fun to sit and see technology at it's best. Unfortunately after that the golf place had closed and we had to call it a night.

Although we couldn't be home for Thanksgiving, we have enjoyed our time in Singapore. We managed to see as many of the tourist sights as we could. We roamed the super clean streets enjoying the English which is everywhere. We saw the many shopping malls on Orchard Road and throughout the town. We walked down the river admiring the clean up job the city has done, and the backdrop of the business district. We even took pictures of the Merlion, Singapore's symbol. We took time to appreciate the Asian Civilizations Museum, and wander through Chinatown. The zoo here is incredible, so we loved admiring the animals which seemed to roam more in the wide open than at home. We even were able to go on a "Night Safari." It allowed us to see many nocturnal animals in an up close and personal kind of way. Walking through the rain forest listening to the sounds was truly amazing. We will not forget our day of animal adventures.

We have had fun in Singapore despite the rain. We came here during monsoon season, so we can't complain much about the weather. Rain is expected so you just live through it. Charlie always says, "Adapt and Overcome." So that is what we do. Tomorrow should bring a lot of that. We are pretty sun burnt so we have to get over that. In the mean time we will be taking an 8 hour bus ride, with three transfers, to make it back to Kuala Lumpur where we fly to Bangkok. This leg of the trip involved poor planning on our part. Oh well, we will adapt and overcome and touch base with you again from Thailand.

Happy Holidays!
