Malaysia is one of those places which I had new clue what to expect. As we flew into Kuala Lumpur we were greeted with the heat we had been wanting. It was extremely muggy, to the point that it was hard to breath. We made our way to central Kuala Lumpur, which they call KL. It seems everything is abbreviated in Malaysia.

It took a lot longer than we had hoped to get to the KLCC. It was approaching midnight and we were thankful we had called the hostel from the airport. We were given a key to check out the room. We were not impressed in the least. In fact it was a dump, but we only had a few hours until morning and we didn't want to be roaming the streets at this time. So we found our sheets in the bottom of our pack and made the place as bearable as possible. We hadn't slept much lately, so that helped us get through the night. We woke up and went to check on some other places to stay. Another guest house was just as bad, so we wondered about the quality of rooms in Malaysia. We decided to check into a hotel. It was better.

The main attraction that brought us to KL were the Petronas Towers. These are the largest twin towers in the world, and it was the largest building until recently. The movie Entrapment showcased these towers and somehow fascinated Charlie. We made plans to go up in the towers and check them out. As you look across the sky line these towers stand tall for all to see. We used them to guide us to their entrance.

Along the way we wandered through the city. We liked the way that trees were intermixed through the city rather than cut down in the building process. The vegetation had a jungle feel to it, which was very unique to me. It was afternoon and we are in the middle of monsoon season. What this means is that it always looks like it is about to storm. As we rushed to the towers it felt like the sky was about to dump at any time.

Once in the towers we found out that you have get tickets for the sky bridge from 8-10 in the morning. They were done selling tickets for the day. It was a big disappointment, but we survived. Instead we grabbed some food and roamed around the massive mall built alongside of the towers. We were waiting out the rain storm. When it was over Charlie circled the towers taking pictures and we both marveled at them. Amidst the night sky the lighting showcased the complexity of the building and created a nice setting for us to enjoy this city.
