October 14, 2005 Last Day in Krakow

Our last day in Krakow was spent making sure we had seen all of the major sights. We hit the castle grounds, the major churches, and the historical sights. We had a pretty relaxing day. The town market area and souvenir shop caught our attention. Charlie picked up a Polish T-shirt and I am still holding out for who knows what. We did pick up our typical magnet and a bag of these amazing candied nuts. I wanted to send everyone a bag home, but didn't know if they would be as good once they got there. Plus I couldn't afford it, sorry.

We hung out for awhile, caught Oliver Twist at the Keno, and grabbed some goodbye pork. We were taking the night train to Budapest, but it didn't leave until 10:30. I think we have decided we can't do the night train thing anymore. After the last experience I felt much safer and tried to get some sleep this time. Charlie watched guard over our belongings and tried to warn off any wanderers. I was oblivious and just woke up for the border patrols and ticket checks. Anyone traveling to Budapest through Slovakia, watch your stuff. The thieves actually have the key which opens your doors. Once they know you are watching they leave you alone, but just be alert. They got on the train around midnight and Charlie says they left around four. Charlie intentionally kept me in the dark of the whole thing, he is a smart guy. I am sure I would have been freaking out. Thankfully we still have all of our stuff and no harm was done. We just realized, we are travelers of the light.

We managed to make it to Budapest and Charlie is snuggled in for a nap. We will venture out and see the town soon. From what I have seen, it is another big city with a good metro. That is about all I know. I will let you know what we find out.
