For the last three and a half years we have been living in Memphis and functioning fairly well. I was involved in teaching and Charlie in the Navy. He was finishing school, and we were busy people. We are seeking to get away from the busyness of life. It seems there are several steps in that process.
The first steps were somewhat foundational. We tried our best to save money and lay the groundwork to take a break from our jobs for awhile. Now we are faced with the many details of moving. It seems I can't even wrap my mind around it sometimes.
We have tried our best to plan it out
Thankfully the Navy is initially going to give our stuff a home for awhile. They will pick it up next Monday, August 29th and put it in storage for six months. That is a huge blessing, a bit scary, but a great inexpensive option for us. So our cherished belongings will be held, hopefully in good hands, until we are ready for them. Where will they go next? That is one of the many things we need to determine.
We have the 30th and 31st to clean up our home and then hand it over. I know it is just a rental house, but that will be difficult. If there is one thing we have loved about Memphis, it is our home. It has held many moments of happiness and heartache. It has seen us face many accomplishments and watched us grow as a couple. It's held some fun nights with friends and family and given us a feeling of security
Along with the home, the friends who helped us make Memphis our home will be hard to walk away from. They have brought this town to life for us. We have shared many meals, and built many memories. Our small group from Hope has taught us the meaning of Christian community. My friends from school have shown me true friendship. I know I couldn't have made it through my time there without them. I pray that we will keep in touch and continue to build on the relationships which have started here.
As challenging as Memphis has been, we will miss it too. Goodbye to all of our favorite places and favorite people. We look forward to seeing you again.
