I didn't step out of the hostel today until it was time to leave for the airport. Instead I attempted a lie in, but after four weeks of rising almost every day around 5am, the best I could manage was 7am. So it was pretty much a full day in front of the hostel's computer, making the most of the internet. It's a good job I had a full day too, as the internet connection, as expected, was ridiculously slow.

I finally got around to doing a little research on Tanzania - namely the different areas (what to see/do and where) as well as attempting to find telephone numbers for a few hostels in the city centre of Dar es Salaam, but with no luck. Despite slow progress and not quite knowing where I'd be sleeping when I landed, which was to be just after midnight, I found myself getting pretty excited for the next week or so ahead; Tanzania looks to have an interesting blend of cultures and heritage with Arab and Portuguese history in the land having played a part in the country's evolving.

At the airport I managed to sneak a few numbers down on my phone from a Tanzania guide book in one of the shops: budget travelling calls for using a few money saving initiatives, I reckon!

The flight was over forty minutes delayed, so I had a few hours of people watching at the airport - something I always love to do. It's a pulsing atmosphere of excited people setting off on holiday or to visit loved ones - and more often than not return home to the eagerly waiting arms of loved ones - very endearing stuff to watch from the distance.
