Where is everyone?  Is this the set of 28 Days Later?  The F.A. Cup Final was yesterday! Granted it was raining first thing this morning, but by 9.15am it was back to shirtsleeves and sunscreen. Yet, apart from two ladies in Bidford, there is hardly anyone else out walking until the end of the day.
From Alcester the Heart of England Way leads through more picturesque villages to the little town of Bidford-on-Avon.  There's a vintage steam rally and fair down by the river, which looks popular, but I can't believe that everyone is there!  Thatched cottages and half-timbered houses abound as the path weaves along the rivers Arrow, Alne and Avon and rises up to the huge Iron-Age hillfort at Meon Hill.
Suddenly the architecture changes from the half-timbered structures of Arden country to honey-coloured stone and there's no mistaking the distinctive Cotswold features as the path reaches the outskirts of Chipping Campden at Mickleton.  Here there are people: dogwalkers, hikers and tourists all enjoying the late afternoon sun.
Chipping Campden seems positively buzzing as there is a music festival, lots of tourists and the cricket is on.  After a day on my own, it's almost overwhelming!

Today's smiles:

Finally meeting some walkers at Mickleton!
