Where I stayed
First up is the Millenium Park with Cloud Gate, a big mirrored bean shaped thing which is great for taking photos. Nearby is the Art Institute which has an incredible collection of all the major artists of the 19th and 20th century, very impressive Picasso, Dali, Monet, Gauguin, etc etc.)
Next day I started with the John Hancock observatory for an amazing 360° view of the city and to read up on the city's history (but don't worry I won't give a history lesson!). After that I checked out the Magnificent Mile, which is a shopping street that goes on for a mile but also has some landmark buildings such as the Waterworks company that looks like a sand castle (honestly, see photo!)
Unfortunately I am about 10 years too late to watch Michael Jordan play but the fights a week earlier over his latest trainers show how popular he still is. (I had to check what the fuss was all about and the trainers were actually pretty ugly, and that's coming from me as MJ aficionado...)
In the evening I went to Buddy Guy's Legends, a good old-fashioned blues bar :) definitely one of the things to do in Chicago!
