Where I stayed
The 1st evening we went to the Stratosphere, the highest tower where you can have a good view of the city close up, and you can see the Strip (where all the big and (in)famous casinos are) light up. Later we tried our luck at Ceasar's Palace (not much) and checked out some of the nightclubs.
Next day was checking out all the different casinos which all have a different theme and try to recreate Paris, Venice, New York etc. It mostly looks very tacky but at least there's lots to see! New York New York has a rollercoaster that starts and ends in the casino and goes round the whole building. We thought it be fun to do and hadn't really paid attention to it from the outside, and you can't see it from the inside. In other words, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but expected a not very scary ride. Ehmm, no no no. It started with a ridiculous long ride up and then a free fall followed by another freefall, went upside down and sideways upside down. It was so scary I couldn't even scream! It went on forever but once we made it out alive it was brilliant :) (apart from the shaky legs haha). As you can tell, I can definitely recommend it!
Last night I went to see one of the 5 or so permanent Cirque du Soleil shows, Ka. The theatre already looked impressive and the show was as well, very good :)
What else can I say about Vegas? It's a weird place, unsurprisingly, but much bigger than I expected. It looks like the boardgame Hotel. Apart from the casinos where people drink and gamble 24/7 there are loads of fake Elvis', Michael Jackson's, Johnny Depp's and, well you get the picture... I'd say the city is fun for 2 days if you don't gamble, if you do gamble, no comment... ok one comment, you'll probably lose a lot of money!
