What I did
I didn't make it to Alcatraz yet, couldn't risk not escaping and being stuck... (or sometimes it doesn't work out not to plan and then it's sold out) but at least I get another chance at the end of my trip. I did see loads of other things and loved exploring the different neighbourhoods. Haight Street was great with all the little shops and also enjoyed Golden Gate Park. Massive massive park, makes Hyde park seem small! And that's when I got lost..
There's only a few things I don't like about SF, the steep hills everywhere, very exhausting, and the many homeless people. Apparently so many as a result of too much experimenting with LSD in the 60s and 70s. Definitely love the city though, it's so much more laid back than other American cities, even the cops are more relaxed (one a bit too relaxed and drove into someone's parked car). And they travel in style on their shiny Harley's. Oh and the street cars are very cool, it's like going back in time and on one type you're even allowed to hang on the outside (had to be done!).
Hmm, what else? Did I mention there's amazing street art everywhere? The uploading of photos is extremely slow and wi-fi is not great on the train, so I'll try to find a different way so I can show some more. Oh yeah they have 'museums' for everything in the US, I even found a Levi Strauss museum by accident. I don't have any crazy stories at the moment, I guess SF is just too cool, but am sure there will be some in LA. First destination is Venice beach as my brother hooked me up with a friend of his (muchas gracias!) so am very much looking forward to that.
Give me some updates please on X Factor (you know who you are!), fantasy football (am I still winning? :) ) and the cold and wet London weather so I'll enjoy this sunshine even more! Yeah sorry, had to be cruel :)
