Whilst still in the relatively benign (meaning not too many creatures out to eat/kill you) waters of southern Queensland, I thought I'd give surfing a go. Though it looks as though it is not really very difficult (especially after watching the locals just hop around on the water), it has its moments and walking on water is not as easy as they make out. We had a bit of practice on the sand, but it is a totally different ball game when you are in the water, as the slightest mistake throws you off. I was reassured, though, that George (Lamb) found surfing not as easy as it looks as well. I think I upheld the Lamb reputation here, giving numerous examples of how not to fall off a board throughout the afternoon. I did manage to stand up a few times though, and hopefully the pictures should upload fine. For anyone who is any good at surfing, well, I'm sure you can tell there may be a few areas I can improve upon...
