We left the campground about 10am,
which seems to be our standard time. Today was suppose to be a 26
mile day but, a detour took us almost 10 miles out of our way. It
was easy riding though and the miles clicked by.

Last night while we were having dinner,
Veronique bought us two little cakes for dessert. She had brought
them from Normandy. Yum, made with lots of butter. So, this morning
we brought her a croissant from the bakery. She gave us a tour of
her Deffletts German made camper. It was a well thought out floor
plan and we all know how well things are made in Germany.
It threatened rain again today and it
did sprinkle but, not enough for us to put on our rain gear. We
stopped at a bike shop outside of Antwerp and picked up a regional
map. Again, the folks in the store were so nice, spoke English and
then offered us water from their cooler.
About 1:30 we stopped for lunch and
then proceeded towards St. Ann's Tunnel. The tunnel is a pedestrian
and cyclist tunnel that goes under the Schelde River. On the street
you get into this giant elevator that is about 15' sq.. It takes you
down 43 meters or about 130', the door opens and you are facing a
very cold, long tunnel that is very well lite. When you get to the
other side there is another elevator to take you back up to street
level. How great is that?
We got to the campground across the
river from Antwerp, had dinner and the skies opened up. We knew it
was coming. Tomorrow it is suppose to be cooler.
Internet spots are few and far between
at this point so, there will be days that you don't hear from us.
