As I said before, the fund-raising is the scary bit of this trip. So far it has been kind of drifting along nicely. I now have about one third of the money accounted for. I will add more myself, so if I raise between another £1000 and £1500 I will be happy.

To date some people have given me very generous donations and I organised a raffle with some good prizes, including a lovely hamper containing fancy food and drink made up by a friend. It was a real eye catcher and when I put it on show the tickets fairly flew.

The draw was held in the Foyle Hospice on 7th July last. There were 750 tickets in the bag and I was very happy with the spread of winners, Derry, Donegal, London and Glasgow. It was a good representation of where the tickets were sold. A big thank you to everyone who bought tickets. I sold a lot in Donegal Town where I work so I was really hoping that one of the prizes would go there, if only to save me from a bit of a slagging. A collegue in Letterkenny won first prize, but nothing for Donegal Town. Such is the nature of draws.

My next fundraising effort will probably be a pub quiz/disco or similar. I've never tried anything like that before, but with so many people offering to help me it should be OK.

On the cycling front, I have been doing bits and pieces. I have just been very bad at writing them up. We are fortunate in Derry to have many lovely places to cycle to so close.

I did a trip to Castlerock and Downhill last weekend combining train and ferry. This weekend myself and a friend are off to Rathlin Island. I hope the puffins are still hanging around.
