Well, the grand tour is all over bar the shouting. Looking back over some of these entries brings back great memories. I'm really glad I kept this, although at time it was hard work, some I wrote when I was tired, some when I was a bit drunk, some when I was hungover. I thought about tidying bits of it up, but have decided to leave it unchanged.

The last entry I did whilst actually travelling was the one for Auschwitz. After that I was doing long distances quite rapidly and I met a lot more really sound travellers. I decided to have the craic and update this later. I was also writing a weekly column for a local Sunday paper and that took up loads of computer time. I did keep a diary so I have all the info and I will gradually get this travelogue up to date.
Handover of cheque to Concern.
Handover of cheque to Concern.

Last Friday 3rd September I met Ciaran McGinley (Foyle Hospice) at the bank and went in to close the account. A total of £1090 was donated.

I gave Ciaran the Foyle Hospice Bank draft, and will arrange an official hand over date.

I had arranged to met Alison Smyth of Concern on Saturday for a picture of me handing over the cheque. She had arranged a big cheque for the shot. However she got held up by the World Ploughing Championship and arrived literally seconds after the photographer had left.

It actually worked out better for her as she rang the paper (the same one I wrote for)and we arranged to go to their nearby offices instead. They produced a digital camera and got the shot. A journalist took the opportunity for a quick interview with me as well.

So all's well that ends well.

Plans for the future, keep my head down at work (or try to anyhow) and I don't quite know how to say this, but whilst talking to Ciaran he said a two week sponsored cycle was being organised for Vietnam in November 2005. Would I be interested as the 25th cyclist.
I think I might have agreed to do it, now where's my map of Asia?
