Veggie delight

More blistering heat, more tree-lined streets, and, at last, a vegetarian restaurant that has fantastic food and loads of it - I have actually died and gone to heaven! If only there was more to see and do here, I could have happily stayed forever.
Tourist info were very helpful - ¨There`s a campsite 3km from here¨ (make that about 7km) and ¨There´s no bus so you need to walk¨ so we did, and were overtaken by numerous ´non-existent´ buses. Humph! We decided to head out to a little village called Barreal, about 5 hours drive from San Juan. The bus started off in usual racing fashion but, after a couple of hours, had slowed to almost a standstill. By the time we were truely in the middle of nowhere, it decided to utter a little sigh and gave up altogether. Sat and chatted to a couple of Canadians while the bus drive helped passsengers to flag down passing cars and hitch to their destinations. The Canadians had just come from Mendoza the day before us, and guess what? They had met a poor Belgium/Dutch guy who had ¨Just been robbed!¨ Same guy, same story we had heard but a different day. Looks like he has a good scam going, easy to pull on the heart strings of passing tourists. Am now very glad I took Al´s lead and didn´t fall for his story.
