Well..havenīt seen this much fog since Skye! Chile is very modern, very European and very grey! Valparaiso is right beside the sea (well everywhere in Chile is either right beside the sea or right beside the mountains). The houses clustered and cluttered on the hills around the commercial centre. To get up and down the hills you can jump on the cutest little venhiculars, very old-fashioned. With so many colourful houses and graffiti to gawp at and photo, we spent most of our time on foot however. Not much to do here but itīs great just to wander around exploring all the side streets (without worrying about being mugged as you do in every city in Peru!)

Tried to find all the famous flea markets but they all seem to have closed or moved - only found some fruit and veg (very tasty fruit it was too!) and a huge supermarket.

The constant grey sky and damp feeling started to wear us down so we decided to mountain-hop and head for sunny Argentina and the vines of Mendoza...
