Stopped in Ica about long enough to haggle with a taxi driver and headed to Huanchaco, a little (tourist) village around an oasis. And it actually still looks like a real oasis - a huge pool of water surrounded by palm trees and sand. Very relaxing, or at least it would have been if we hadnīt had a couple of very noisy Israelis in the room next door - why, oh why, do they insist on being so predictable?
The sand dunes around the oasis were stunning although Alīs camera is struggling to recover. Most tourists come here to sand board or scare their socks off by charging full speed over the dunes in sand buggies. Looks great fun but I was happy just to watch and keep my socks on. Not much else to do and, with our noisy neighbours putting an end to any hopes of chilling out, we decided to head on up to Nazca.
