Kind of got stuck in Cochambamba, although there are worse places to get stuck...they make the best ice-cream in Bolivia here! Tried to chase up a parcel I sent to Scotland - express post took three weeks, normal post took five days, think there´s a message in there somewhere?
So we went on expeditions...flagged down a bus out to Quillacollo, to the Sunday market and a riot of colour and sound. Wanted to buy some bowler hats but where do they fit into a rucksack? Very beautiful indeed.
Next trip was out the Inka ruins of Inka-Rakay and a VERY big walk up a hill. Not much left of the buildings but you get an idea of this crazy top-of-the-world like they led back then. Read some horror stories on the net about people being attacked whilst camping up there so headed back down before sunset. Had the misfortune of arriving at the same time as a Bolivian High School outing - the bags and bags of rubbish they left kind of wrecked any peace to be had.
Spent a good bit of time exploring the markets in Cochambamba and, man do they know how to do markets! You can get seriously lost in there. Got yelled at by a woman selling puppies and another selling witchcraft trinkets so gave up taking photos - got some nice shots of chillies though!!!
