Another long but very pleasant bus journey, this time up north to the border of Brazil. Itīs well into Autumn now but the heat is cranking up after the ice of the Andes. Mosquitoes are making an unwelcome reappearance so I am wandering round in a cloud of insect repellent - lovely!
We came to see the fabled Falls of Igazu which sit right in the middle of the river which divides Brazil and Argentina so you can visit both sides (but pay twice of course). From our camp site the border appeared to be only five minutes walk away then just a hop, skip and a jump across the bridge...but itīs never that simple is it? A hot and sticky hour later we made it to the Brazilian border control and onto a bus to the park. Thereīs just one walkway on the Brazilian side but you get an amazing view of the falls all laid out in front of you. Up above, the vultures soared and down below speedboats sped tourists up to the foot of "The Devilīs Cauldron" for a thorough soaking. Cute little Coatis hung around the food kiosks waiting for an unsuspecting customer to swing their bag of food to close to those extra sharp claws leaving a mess on the floor, two very happy critters and one disgruntled tourist...A very good day all round.
