Thirty five hours on a bus, oh man, and they donīt do veggie here so it was just as well we brought food with us although we maybe didnīt need 15 apples, three packets of biscuits, two loaves of bread and four bars of chocolate. As anyone who knows me well though, itīs never wise to let me get hungry in a confined space. Allan has the patience of a saint.

Buenos Aires is even better than I remember it, now the heat has died down the pollution is not so in your face and itīs still the friendliest capital Iīve ever visited, every time I pull out my map someone comes over and offers to help us find our way. The streets are full of people at all times of day and night. Nobody (except us) seems to start getting hungry till after 9pm so the cafes and restaurants stay open till late in the night. Went to see an amazing band the other night and was really struck by how different pub culture is here Film of protests in Buenos Aires

. I looked around every so often and couldnīt see a soul drinking. I mean there was beer on the tables but folk just donīt get drunk like they do in Glasgow - I love it!

We spend most days just wandering around, found some lovely parks and an awesome cemetery. Each person/family has a huge mausoleum built over them covered in religious images. My favourite was of the General, off to heaven escorted by angels with his sword in his hand and his cannon behind him - īcos you need a cannon in heaven right?

I also love that most parks have a bit fenced off just for dogs (Argentinians love dogs). Means they can bark to their hearts content and run around like crazy without driving the rest of us nuts. Not so keen on the roads though - itīs so busy and noisy. The main road through the heart of the city has 20 lanes!!!!! You have to almost run across even when the green man is on!

Think weīre going to head up north in the next few days (start of May). There is a beautiful waterfall on the border with Brazil that sounds well worth the trip. Will write again in mid May...

Hello!
Hey Chara,
Great to hear from you again, and really enjoying your blog. It looks brilliant in South America- I'm very jealous! Sorry to hear about the accident in Cambodia but glad you've recovered. It doesn't seem to have slowed you down. BTW the Congress building looks suspiciously like Bolton Town Hall- are you sure you're in Argentina? ;-p Johnxx
