When I travel, I do not think too much about about the past or the future as I ditched everything back home and savored the present.  It is about now. When I get hungry, where should I head down to get food. When I am in a new place, where am I going or what should I do. You get very conscious of your surrounding and yourself and the choices you made. It puts you in touch with yourself and the unexpected changes are always training you to remain calm and put things into perspective. So what if it does not work out. Just laugh along and move on. But if there is an alternative, why not? It trains me to break out of the routine cycle and pattern that we allow ourselves to settle so comfortably into in our daily lives. A jolt to bring new excitement and provides good training too.

For an introvert, it also challenges me to open up to people. To open my heart and make connection regardless of race and languages because as human beings we all share the same feelings. A smile, a laugh and an acknowledgment to get things going even if there is no common language, to bridge a connection and somewhat you feel safer be it in a hostel or on the train. The heart is a very sensitive spot but when we learned to disarm ourselves and be ready to make a fool out of ourselves, it is actually generous as well.

On the journey I read that very often what we don't want of ourselves, we do not want them in others. How fair is that? Let's take a break and realise that it is really okay and for us to appreciate the differences.

Back home, I am integrating my new realisations into practice.
