Susan and Anya (friends from DC known to some of you) arrived from DC on last Thursday. I drove to the airport by myself (or as my nephew Danny would say all my byself). No driver, no nothing. Just me and directions. I made it with time to spare and we made it back to my place almost without a glitch. The glitch was that I got lost on the way home, but not too lost. Acutally, my driver saved us. Well, we made it home and the next morning, we all went to the Embassy and they checked out my new digs. Then, they headed out to the gold museum (Museo de Oro) while I finished up some things at work.

Then, around 3:30 pm I headed home for our girls night!!! Manicures, pedicures, massages, wine, drinks, dinner and then we hit the town!!! We went to Cafe libero (the Salsa place near my house)and met up with my friend, Tanya and her friend, Pascal. Susan left around midnight and Anya and I stayed and danced a while.

The next morning, we were met by Adel, my friend Gemma's friend from DC, who recently moved to Bogota to work here (and no, he doesn't work at the Embassy)and he isn't Latino either!!! The four of us, with me driving once again, went to the Catedral de Sal (Salt Cathedral) which is actually a salt mine converted into a Cathedral. It's amazing! We drove there without a glitch....okay except for the time we didn't know whether to go right or left (map glitch) and I stopped at the intersection on the highway! We eventually figured it out and made it there safely. We were escorted through the cathedral by an English speaking guide along with a couple from Missouri, Patrick and Kimberly and their two newly adopted Colombian brothers, Diego and Jose. Jose (8) and Diego (6) are adorable. I so admire Patrick and Kimberly for adopting two brothers and kids they can't communicate that well with (Patrick and Kimberly don't speak Spanish and jose and diego don't speak English). Well, after falling in love with this family, almost instantly, I invited them to Thanksgiving at my house. I knew it would be tight, but I couldn't imagine how lucky i was to have enough room to invite them. I probably would have figured out a way to do it in my 600 sq. ft. apartment in DC. I think it will be a good time and a very memorable time for me. The true spirit of Thanksgiving!!

Sunday night, Susan, Anya, Adel and joined a bunch of other people from work at Andres Carne de Res (Andres Steaks). This place is super cool! It's a restuarant that turns into a dance club. People, including yours truly (suprising) danced on the chairs and tables!! We had a blast!! The group was about 20 strong and everyone, even the guys, except for Adel danced on the chairs. Susan was asked to stop dancing on the tables! Needless to say, check out the pictures! Anya fell in lust with a waiter who looked like Enrique Iglesias and Adel had his first Aguardiente (firewater - local liquor) experience!!

The following morning, Anya and Susan were picked up at 6:45 in the morning for their trip to Cartagena. It was a beautiful day in Bogota (high 70's) and I had a great run! I went to see a movie (Against the wall - Turkish film) that was intense! Anya and Susan will be back Wednesday and I will check in some time after that!!

Miss ya all! Come visit!!
