Woke up and the place had surprisingly dried out a little, we went for a bit of a hike through the camping grounds to check out the different types of accommodation, there was few nice little cabins right up the back. Got back to the yurt for a coffee and then off to the showers and into our shorts to head to the shore. We had another game of catch before jumping in the cars, we stopped at Atlantis Diner in Manasquan for breakfast and then down route 35 through Mantoloking towards Seaside Heights.
Mantoloking and it's surrounds were still littered with debris and sand left over from super storm Sandy. The damage left by this storm is devastating, peoples furniture and houses are strewn everywhere. We would have liked to have taken photos but didn't think it would be appropriate, it would have been like the idiots taking photos after our Black Saturday disaster.
We arrived at the Charlroy Motel about 11:30 and were granted early check-in, our room was on the second floor with a view across the Atlantic and only a short trip to the recently replaced boardwalk. The only downfall was that their WiFi was totally useless. The Chang had a bit of a sore back and decided to stay in the room sinking cans and watching baseball while Rando and I decided to hit the boardwalk.
They have done some work on the boardwalk but is a long way from the last two times I have seen it. It still has the Guido meatheads strutting around and bikini clad girls wanting to be ogled. It was good to spend some time with my old mate Ran and we had our own little pub crawl and a few laughs. We headed back to the hotel for a swim in the pool before showering and heading out to dinner at Spicy's Mexican Cantina.
We walked the boardwalk after dinner, Ran said it was pretty quiet for a Saturday night but there were still plenty around with a surprising number of Police patrolling the area. I have a feeling our teenagers would really like this place.
