We were up at around 8:00 to prepare to head south once again, after we packed we headed downstairs for brekky and hit the road about 10:00. Reasonably busy traffic around town but it cleared pretty quickly once we were outside the city limits, we made good time through Connecticut stopping for a break at Hartford.
We crossed the border into New York State just near Yonkers and the traffic began to build again getting at it's worst just as we hit The Bronx. It wasn't such a bad thing going slow as we got to look across to Manhattan and tried to pick out the famous landmarks. Once we got through NYC over the George Washington Bridge we were in Jersey and had to pay a few tolls to hit the massive freeway towards the shore. We arrived in Lakewood about 3:00 and headed into a Maccas to get on the WiFi to find the address of our campsite, gave Ran a quick call and he said he would see us there between 5:00 & 6:00.
We got to Allaire State Park about 4:00 and found that we were in Yurt No. 10, a Yurt is a a type of Mongolian tent (the photos will help). We settled in by collecting firewood and started a campfire while waiting for Ran to arrive, he got there about 5:45 and we sat around the fire for a while having a yarn and catching up. There were squirrels and chipmunks everywhere. Ran took us into Walmart to stock on camping supplies and food for the morning, we were planning to go out for dinner but decided to order a couple of pizzas. We got two 24" pizzas delivered and only managed to get through one, they are massive.
We chatted away by the fire, listening to music and having a few beers, I decided to hit the sack about 12:30 and left the other two around the fire. Around 1:30 I heard this commotion coming from outside, apparently a raccoon had stolen our pizza. After all this excitement Ran and Chang hit the hay about 2:30. Aah the great outdoors.
