So off to Seville. A hour and a half drive to Stanstead and sorted the parking the night before I felt pretty comfortable about the trip. A short Ryanair flight to Seville was about 2 hours 45 mins. I loaded up for food and water just before getting on the plane (to make sure there were no nasty costs I had to endure for bad airline food) and settled in. We touched down in Seville and were out of thre terminal within 15 minutes. We found the bus to town (amazingly 2 euros 30) and jumped on. Half an hour later we were at the last stop (Ave de Carlos I think) and being quite a warm night strolled along in the direction of the hostel). We found it about half an hour later. It was a fanstastic walk on Ave De Constitution - with the Cathedral coming into view - WOW - this place really warms you up and gave me a great feel for the weekend.
We found the hostel and checked in - so far so good although as I had booked direct and not through hostelworld.com I had to pay £15 per night instead of £9 - bummer I would have argued the toss but it was late and I didnt speak Spanish

The Giraldo Tower is amazing. Originally a minaret and part of the Moorish mosque that was around before the Cathedral. We went in to the Cathedral - it costs £8 euros - it is worth it. However if you are a student it will only cost you £2 euros. The Cathedral is breathtaking. We had a wander up to the tower - fairly easy to get up with no steps and a gentle but continuos ramp. The view from the top of Seville is stunning.
We ran out to get something to eat on the first night -bad idea without planning - we expected tapas but got a bit of a fright when the bill turned up. In retrospect we should have asked for Tapas. We didnt and got charged for larger portions - Lesson learned!
Some great tapas bars were
Bar Manolo - Plaza de la Alfalfa, Rinconcillo, Bar Ajo Blanco - Calle Alhondiga and the ones on Calle Mateos Gago
We also went to a Flameco evening at the Caboniera - look out for the bright red door on Calle Levies. Its difficult to find. This place was packed to the rafters - mostly with American students but it was a great evening - with a flamenco dancer flautist, guitarist and a singer.
Onto the flight home - easy bus back to the airport, landed safely and within 15 minutes was scraping thick ice of the car window! Back to reality..........until my next trip!!

Caboniera
! Anyway it was still a good deal. No key deposits and no extra nasties. I had a good feeling about this place. It is located on Mateos Gago - about 500 yards away from the Giraldo tower and the Cathedral. www.sevillabackpackers.es

La Caboniera
. We also went to the Tex Mex bar one night - for pool and sports on the telly. Also has some very interesting locals who can speak English (this is also yards away from the Giraldo Tower).
