I survived the ferry journey and arrived in the South Island, in the rain! We checked into a hostel, the room was very dark as people were in bed early due to excess alcohol the night before so we stumbled around getting read for bed! Unfortunately we were both on top bunks and the bunks were very high so with the help of a chair and a gentle shove by me Simona gets up. Then it's my turn and I couldn't get up, after 4 attempts I make it, not without injuring myself. Of course I then wake up in the middle of the night needing the toilet, was actually contemplating when trying to get back up just putting the mattress on the floor, but I managed to clamber up!
Oh the joys, is the tent better?
