Arrived in Taupo relieved to be away from the smell in Rororua! Set up our tent on the lakes of the bank, very pretty view (but miles from the toilets!).
Did Christmas shopping for food (you should see how much we have bought) and each other's present.
We went out on the first night, surprise surprise we went to an Irish bar. Got chatting to some locals which was cool as they recommended things to do and see. They also initiated us into the local lingo, there are 3 important words to use in order to be accepted by kiwis: f**king, awesome and saying ay at the end of a sentence! Then ended up in a small club called The Holy Cow, dancing on a table! Yes the rain has continued.

On Chritmas Eve we moved to the outskirts into a cabin as we did not want to be in a tent for Xmas 01 The view from our tent, the water is so clear.

. We were meant to do a skydive but due to the wind couldn't, very disappointed. Instead we went to another waterfall and a place called Craters of the Moon, not sure why as nothing like craters in the moon but a kind of field with smoke due to geothermal activity!
Another night out in the Irish bar (driving this time, boring), met a couple of Canadian girls who like us couldn't believe that it was Xmas and not really cold (although was cold enough for us to be wearing thermals to bed)!

Christmas day dawned and we put the lights on our Christmas tree and opened our pressies. After a soak in the geothermal pool we got dressed and then the sun came out so we got undressed and put our bikinis on. Had a sunbathe and a bbq (ate so much food) and pulled crackers (even had Xmas serviettes and candles). What a way to spend Xmas. Was lovely talking to some people from home even though the time difference made things strange, we are 13hrs ahead. In the evening ventured to the TV room and watched Jurassic Park!

Boxing day brought rain, we were very upset as our skydive had been postponed until today. We phoned them up and they said it was still on, a bit confused we drove in and as we entered the main town the sun was shining 02 Craters of the Moon.

. We arrived with shaking hands, signed over any blame and chose the music to our dvds. The workers were very amusing and kept us entertained, although also tried to scare us. Sim and I were quite hyper and were singing and dancing around as we were getting dressed. After being dressed up to look very sexy we were taken to the plane and did the intro to our dvd (very cheesy). My jump master was over the moon when I handed him my sick bags (his wife found it highly amusing) and asked whether I wanted him to stop filming if I was sick as apparently some people like the filming to continue ( luckily the sick bags were not needed, although in the plane when Sim said she had spent many a time in planes rubbing my back he started to rub my back and offered to hold my hair back)!
There were three of us in the plane, I was last in. It is very cosy as you practically sit in your jump masters lap, at one stage you actually do! Off we went and remarkably my nerves stopped. We reached 12,000ft and I was 1st out. We swang round so we were sitting with our legs out of the plane (I was so calm, get scared doing easy things but jumping out of a plane, no probs!) and off we went. It was absolutely amazing, I cant explain it. We freefell for about 45secs (actually don't feel like you are going that quick) and then the parachute opens. The views were gorgeous, of Lake Taupo and the mountains. When we landed Sim and I were so hyper, screaming and the such. Everyone else who had landed when we had been waiting before were so calm (boring I call it!). What a buzz.

I could go on and on, but will stop there!

After that we just chilled but kept looking at each other and saying I can't believe we just did that! That evening we ventured out again for a few drinks (driving again).
The following morning we left our lovely cabin and headed out of Taupo.
