After Auckland we set off to the beach house, about an hour and a half away. Simona drove and we had a laugh as the car is automatic which we have never driven before and the indicator is on the opposite side so she kept putting the windscreen wipers on instead of the lights!
We have decided to use the beach house as a base until after xmas so we will spend xmas there and hopefully fulfill my dream of a bbq on the beach on xmas day(lets hope the weather stays nice).
The beach house is a bit of a mish mash as extensions have been built but it is right on the beach with stunning views, we are really beinhg spoilt. And we don't have to share with other people (and I got to have a bath with bubbles)! We spent the afternoon washing clothes and chilling out in the sun. In the evening we went for a stroll along the beach (the water was freezing) and I did ballet (Barry, this was not as good as my ballet in the park in Paris)!
The following day we drove around the area called the Coromandel, I drove and loved it, I have missed driving. On route we stopped off at a viewpoint and for some reason started singing xmas songs, as you do! We then continued to a waterfall and to a forset with Kaouri trees which are huge. We stopped off in a small town and bought an xmas tree and advent calendar! I also bought a Shakira tape as the tapes in the car were not to our taste! And yes I sang the words very loudly and out of tune. That evening we decided to cook a roast which was a strange idea as neither of us cook them at home. It was a success.
