Managed to wake up at 6.30am after only 3 hours sleep to catch the bus to Chile. It rained the entire time, felt as though I was back in England! We again had to go through border crossings and again got fruit confiscated! After a 6 hour bus journey we arrived in grotty Puerto Montt and then caught another bus for 4 hours (also had to catch a boat) to where we are now.
(An aside, I am fed up with the temperature on the buses, it is either really hot so you feel sick or it is so cold we have to use our sleeping bags.)

We are in a place on Chiloe Island called Chonchi, it is tiny and only took 5 minutes to walk around the center. We were constantly whistled at us we walked around from teenagers up to old men, I donīt think they are used to English girls, especially ones as attractive as us! To get to our hostel you walk along the beach so from our room you can see the sea (see photo) 1 View from hostel in Chonchi.

. The hostel is being renovated and the very nice and enthusiastic hostel owner gave us a guided tour of the renovations! It is a bit chilly here and to get to the toilet and shower you have to go outside, not good. The whole showering experience was not very pleasant especially as on the 2nd day I only got cold water and the shower room had no window just an empty space for the cold air to come whistling in!
Are you ready for another classic Caroline moment, well here goes (Mummy I wouldnīt read this)! We decided to go for walk along the beach (me coughing and spluttering as I went as am poorly, poor me!)as recommended by the hostel man. All was well and then we came to a dead end so turned back. We were quite happily walking back when Simona suddenly realised that the tide was coming in so we had better hurry, as we turned a bend we saw that the tide had completely come in and we were cut off. We quickly back tracked looking for a way up the grassy bank as otherwise we would have to sit on a rock and wait for the tide to go back out! We found a kind of path (basically grass worn down by other people) and climbed up it and into a field. We picked our way through the field and came across a barbed wire fence, having no other choice we clambered through (ripped my jacket a bit)and found a road. Phew we thought until we were approached by a security man who informed us that we were trespassing. In perfect Spanish we explained our predicament and we were on our way 2 View from hostel in Ancud, lovely weather!

! Again, why does this keep happening, we should not be allowed out although apparently this kind of thing only happens to Simona when she is with me!

From Chonchi we travelled a couple of hours to Ancud, stayed in a lovely hostel and got homemade bread for breakfast (not as nice as yours Frank). It is very sad but we were excited when we went into the bathroom and saw liquid soap (normally you have to provide your own), a hand towel and it had a powerful, hot shower! There was also a gorgeous kitten (yes even I thought he was gorgeous)who decided that he liked our room so whenever someone opened the door he would dash in and steal our beds, although he kept clambouring up to the top bunk and getting stuck!
We were going to go to see penguins but unfortunately it was raining so we could not. We therefore left Ancud and travelled back to the main land.
