Punta del Este is a beach resort and a very expensive one at that. I thought Uruguay would be cheap but I was wrong. It is very pretty and quite cool as you can stand on the middle main road and to one side you can see the Atlantic Ocean and to the other side the Rio de la Plata (see photos, I am looking very sexy as have my big backpack on, my small backpack and am looking rather windswept. As an aside we still get whistled at, beeped at and the South American way of being hissed at even when I look this good!)
We were planning to go to the beach but the weather decided otherwise so we have just been pottering around. Dinner last night consisted of french stick with salami followed by french stick with Nutella (chocolate spread)! After dinner, at about 8pm, we decided to have a snooze before heading out (we had even bought a bottle of wine in for getting ready). The next thing we knew it was 1am and the lads next door were going on about how the English girls (us, they were German!) said they were going out but where were they A huge hand in the sand!
A huge hand in the sand!
! We went back to sleep and woke up at 9am, I guess the travelling has taken its toll on us!
(The picture of the hand in the sand is for you Handy!)

On Monday we travelled to Montevideo, just 2hrs away, quite different to Punta, passed some very poor places on the way. As we got off the bus and went to get our big backpacks, Simona banged her small rucksack on the ground forgetting that the wine was in there, yes you guessed it, it smashed, wine everywhere! At least it wasn´t me!
Our room was a bit strange, it was very dark, had cuddly toys on the bed and on the door someone had written go somewhere else and the lights are on! The landlady was lovely though, very homely and kept stroking us, also gave us red wine!
It was pouring with rain so again just pottered around, not much to do here as once again we came here for the beach.

On Tuesday we travelled to our last Uruguay destination, Colonial del Sacramento. It is lovely here, a little village with cobble stone paths. It is very quiet as it is not the busy season, went for a drink last night (Pina Colada) and we were the only customers! The sun has decided to shine so we are happy. About to go for lunch then chill out at the Plaza before catching a boat this evening to Buenos Aires.

Uruguay´s countryside is surprisingly like England´s, green fields with cows grazing!

Can I just say that although it sounds like I have been drinking lots it is only a glass a night, if that!
