From Rio (on Sunday) we caught a bus and then a boat to Ilha Grande, a gorgeous island with pretty coloured shops! The sun was shining so we sat on the beach having a couple of caipirinhas and paella. Simona and Nina were very excited by the fact that there were portable cake trolleys everywhere so you can just grab a cake as you go by.
The next day we went on a boat to a stunning beach on the island but unfortunately it was drizzling so we could not enjoy it to its full. Simona and I sat huddled together with our sarongs keeping our legs warm! Still saw stunning views. Getting onto a small boat that was taking us to a cafe on another boat, I managed to stumble and my bag slipped off my shoulder into the sea therefore my phone which finally worked when we reached Brazil is broken! Am not happy.
I am a bit poorly today with a cold, poor me, and while on the beach I got beaten about 8 times and the bites are huge so that will look good if the sun actually comes out for me to sunbathe!
On Tuesday we travelled to Paraty,found another hotel which is still being built and we are the first guests, so woken up early to banging! We must look for places that have already been built. We did have a lovely view (see photos)and had breakfast brought to the room. Again Simona got excited, this time by self-service ice-cream where you fill up a tub with as many different types of ice cream as you like!
Luckily the weather was lovely on Wednesday so we went on a boat trip to 2 bays and 2 beaches, sea was nice and warm. We were very lucky as we also saw dolphins. Unfortunately I got slightly burnt but am now brown.
From Paraty we travelled 6hrs to Sao Paulo, had 1hr there, then 6 hrs to Curitiba which is where I am now, arrived at 5am so am a bit sleepy! At 10pm have a 10hr journey to Foz.
