We arrived in Rio, stayed in a dorm with a man who snored very loudly all night, was not impressed.
The next day was gorgeous, hot and sunny. Elio, Ninas friend from England arrived for a 2 week holiday, bringing with him a parcel for me that i had requested from my mum. It included among other things my jeans and Cadburys fruit and nut! We spent the day on Copacabana beach which is lovely. The waves were huge and I got dragged under a couple of times!
The next day we went to the beach but unfortunately the wind kicked up so after awhile of being lashed with sand we left. The following day Steve, Sim and I went to Tiijuca Park, a kind of rain forest which had a lovely waterfall. We then went to the biggest shopping mall in South America, apparently, and I did not buy anything, aren't I good! That night we went to a Brazilian show which was amusing, some of the dancers were so miserable, some chatted to each other on stage and some pulled funny faces at the audience 01 For the ladies!
01 For the ladies!
! But there were nice sights for both men and women, pictures to come soon! Nina, Elio, Herdy and I then decided to go out for a drink on Copacabana beach, we drank the local tipple called caipirinhas which are lethal! We stayed up till 6.30am dancing with the locals along Copacabana beach, it was fantastic. It did rain for awhile so the bar owner put umbrellas over us and there is video footage of me singing and slow motion running in the rain while we sang Singing in the Rain!
The next night, Friday, we all went out to a local part of town where everyone just mingles and dances in the streets, it was heaving and so different to England.
On Saturday we were lucky enough to have sun so we sunbathed before heading up Corcovoda where there is the statue of Christ the Reedemer and amazing views of Rio. We then went up Sugar Loaf to see Rio at night which was magnificent, had 2 catch 2 cable cars up and 2 down, which was not that magnificent!
And that is the end of Rio. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
