Been a while since an update on the old travel pod and now that a few things of note have happened I figure its about time for a little update. It seems my tolerance for typing is slowing decreasing though, which is probably a thing all travelers experience, i find that as soon as i start typing i just cant be fucked and then give up after a few short sentences. Mexican keyboards and a hangover donīt help either so this post might be a bit disjointed and rambling. Oh and probably full of spelling errors as well!
So i find myself in San Cristobal at the moment, a very quaint little town about half way in between the west coast and the east coast. Previously I was in Zipolite for a few days after leaving Escondido (at last!) and the roll of a dice selected Cancun as the place to reach for Christmas. Other options were Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and of course... dont go anywhere and just stay put. The bus journey from here to Cancun is 17 hours and it leaves in 2 hours, im not looking forward to it, specially since our seats are right at the back next to the toilet! Got a couple of books to see me through though.
Amber! Its everywhere. This place is only 80k away from the place they mine it and they have a museum which we visited yesterday. It was pretty boring to be honest but there were a few pieces that caught the eye, some with little bugs trapped inside that are millions of years old. Warriors used to wear big necklaces made from it as a sign of their greatness and to ward of evil spirits, i was wondering if i bought a load and did the same if it might ward of a certain evil that seems to be all around me at the moment.
My board hit me in the face! Back in Zipolite i caught this wave on a little reef opposite the hotel and after a pretty good ride, realizing the wave was just about to close out on me, i jumped off the board and into the sea. All of a sudden i feel a massive whack on my chin and my head rings and starts throbbing, i managed to get out of the sea ok but my face was pounding and my chin was bleeding. It could have been a lot worse though, the board hit me just below the bottom lip on the gums which is mainly bone... a few centimeters higher and i might be a few teeth short!
I think this is about all i can be arsed to type right now. Almost a bit of a shame to leave San Cristobal, itīs got a lot of character and the xmas vibe is turning out to look pretty sweet, the dice mission is the mission though so the next update will be from Cancun. At least itīll be warmer down there, it gets freezing up in these mountains at night.
Bye for now
