204 Miles today: My odometer reads 3050 total miles. Started out our day pretty early, as usual. Jim and I are up as soon a the sun comes up which was 5am this morning. Our bodies are still on Cleveland time and we just crossed another time zone, so we're 3 hours behind.

Most of our riding was done on Rt. 40 today. You talk about a desolate stretch of road. It was kind of like what i imagined the Alcan to be like. We got in to Dawson Creek around 11am, found the Welcome to the Alaska highway sign and took a bunch of pictures. Then we were off to find a campground. We got a site for $22.00 at the Mile zero campground. We've been saving alot of money by camping as much as we can, but it's alot of work. It takes us about 2 hours to shower, get dressed ,and take down the tents, and pack up the bikes.

We did our laundry today. It was nice to have clean cloths again. then we just kind of hung around our campsite today. We had a bad thunderstorm roll through, so we had to hunker down in our tents till it passed. Then I took off to the liquor store for a little bottle of sipping whiskey, and met Jim and Kevin at the local watering hole for some chow and a couple beers. During our visit to the pub we met some new friends. Tucker and Mark. They gave us a couple of good tips about the Alaska highway, mainly duck when a Moose walks in front of you. Thanks guys I really hope I remember that one.

I came back a little early to update the site, and try to get to bed early. Then tomorrow it's time to hit the Alcan. We want to try and do 400 miles tomorrow and get to a place called Toad river. There's a campground there as well as a motel, cabins. and wireless internet. So we'll let you know tomorrow how it went.
