720 miles today: I started my day meeting Joyce at the Public House at 6:30 am for a quick picture. I finally met Mrs. Graven, who said she would keep me in her prayer book for the next 24 days.Thank you Mrs Graven. Anyhow we snapped a couple pictures, I said my goodbyes to Joyce and Kim, and i was on my way to meet Jim and Kevin.

We met at the first service plaza on the turnPIKE at 7:30 am, along with Terry and Mike Hageman so they could ride with us to the next exit.

We were heading to Houghton,MI. for our first night. Kevin was stationed up there when he was in the coast guard so he wanted to visit some old friends. The day was pretty uneventful up until we got to Houghton, and I heard a terrible grinding noise coming from the back of the bike when i applied the brakes. We figured we would get to the campgrounds and unload the bikes and investigate the noise there. I took off the saddlebag and saw the problem. One of the bolts that hold the caliper to the swing arm was missing and the caliper was pushed up and rubbing on the wheel. That's the last time I have the dealership do anything other than warranty work. Who ever put my tires on didn't put loctite the bolts. It was already 9pm and most place were closed for the day. So I figured we would work it out in the morning. In the mean time Kevin was going to meet his friends, and Jim and I had a couple beers and turned in. Kevin came back at 1am and woke me to tell me he found a bolt at a grocery/gas station/ hardware store.
