Well hello everyone,

Be prepared for many blog entries at once as I've been terrible at updating you and now is the time for me to catch up so please bare with me!

I'll start with our last week in Melbourne, which to my delight was sunny and warm, ideal for spending a few days on the beach at St Kilda. It was lovely to be on the sand again, but I have to say the sea in Victoria isn't quite as inviting as the sea in Queensland! Spent both Thursday and Sunday on the beach watching the beautiful people of Melbourne who all seem to have far too much money and time off work! (Oh Lisa I saw Ben Lee too!).

On Friday it was time for me to explore the history of Victoria at the Immigration Museum. To gain entry at discount price I had to demonstrate my best Australian accent to the guy at the front desk! The museum was fascinating, full of stories of the various people who have decided to make Victoria their home and the replicers of the ships they made their passages on. I visited another memorial to Victoria's history on my way home, at the Shrine of Rememberance. Positioned next to the Botanical Gardens it was a quiet and peaceful place, a very fitting war memorial.

Please don't be too ashamed of us but on Monday me, Rowan and four girls from our hostel headed to Neighbours night! This takes place at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub and involves lots of British people getting very drunk and Heckling at "stars" from Neighbours. We met Dr Karl, Connor (yes his accent is real) and Stingray. Sounds tacky but we actually had a great time and all got a hug and kiss from Dr Karl (aren't you all jealous!).

We'd spent the week trying to decide when and how to leave Melbourne and on Wednesday Rowan found us a camper van relocation for $1 per day! So we prepared to leave Melbourne on Friday, fitting in our last few tourist activities and nights out. Tony Rowan and I took a tour of Melbourne Gaol where Ned Kelly was hanged. Victorian gaols are scary enough, but we decided to add to the spookyness and take the tour at night, with only our guides candle to light the way. Walking passed dark cells filled with death masks I could almost start to believe in ghosts...

All in all we had a fab time in Melbourne meeting some great people who we spent our last night with. It was a ladies night so of course the boys in the hostel found it essential to wear skirts and stuff socks down their tops! I'll miss Melbourne, but its time to get back to Sydney for Christmas!

Love Kirstie xxx
