Today Pat and I went for a walk along the Corribe River to some see some castle ruins that friends told us about. We went for the walk and noticed that the huge castle is on the other side of the river (the same side as our apartment). We decided to go on line and look at some maps to try and figure out where this castle was. So, with a general direction we started walking, it was about 30 mins away from the apartment. We asked this Irish man where the castle was, and it was only about 5 mins from where we were. He told us to go down this road and then at the end hop the fence into this field that had a horse in it. In the pictures you will see the entrance to the street that the castle is at the end of. Once we passed this entrance a dog showed us the way and went right under the gate and proceeded to the castle. It was amazing just walking with the dog in the field with the horse. I am taking a course on Castles so hopefully I will find out more about this sight tomorrow when I ask my professor about it. So far we know that it was built in 1569 and there was a fire in 1910. The castle is right along the corribe river and next to tons of fields. Once we explored the castle we then went into the adjoining field this is the picture of the rolling fields. After we were in that field we started on the way back and took pictures with the horse. There is also a picture of a thatched roof house on the way back.
