As usual, up around 8 with no alarm and breakfast in the room. Then we got ready and headed to Hilton Head Outfitters to rent kayaks. Cindy decided at the last minute not to go, so it was just Layne and I. After checking in and getting our map of the one hour route, we headed outside to get life jackets and onto the dock at the back of the shop (located on the river). The dock master gave us instructions on paddling and maneuvering the kayaks and then launched us into the water... off we went. This was a lot of fun, with a very slow current, almost none and a really good upper body workout. Cindy caught up with us at one of the bridge crossings and snapped pictures.

We got back to the hotel and got ready for the pool. I headed on down and got three chairs under the trees (partial shade) and waited on Cindy and Layne. They finally showed up and we just chilled out around the pool the rest of the day.

Cindy and Layne researched the restaurant magazine and selected Truffles Cafe. Layne made reservations on Open Table for 6:45. We arrived right on time and were taken to our table. The wait staff was very nice and our Maitre'd came back to take drink orders for us... we told Layne it was because of her because he was smiling really big the whole time... she disagreed and said he was either gay or a foreigner. Layne ordered the New Orleans pasta with shrimp, Cindy ordered the meatloaf and I ordered the ribs. All was very good, but Layne's may have been the best.

After dinner we decided to ride around a little bit (Layne made a rule that we couldn't return to the hotel before 9:00 pm) and see the sights near where we will be staying in July. I taught Layne the "calm down hum" and it stuck in her head.

At the end of the night we went to the Hilton Head Ice Cream Co. Very expensive ice cream, but very good. At the end of the serving line was a self serve condiments table. We sat outside and ate while watching people. It was 8:58 pm and Layne said we were OK to head back to the hotel. Another great day on the island.
