Where I stayed
The Mariot Portland
What I did
It's starting to get really, really cold here! Today I forgot to put gloves on when riding to school and my oh my my hands practically fell off!!!
Anyway Jordan left to Boston on Wednesday. He was staying there for one night, than flying to LA, than to Vancouver. He has arrived safely and I have not heard from him since he landed.
He must be having a great time catching up with his friends and exploring!
Last weekend we all went to Portland. We got the bus into town and picked up a car.
Mum drove out of the Bangor area and it was pretty funny
Mum and dad said they didn't want a GPS and Jordan and me were like we are getting one for sure!!!! Like as if they didn't want one. So we exit the car rental place and dad directs with his road map and we take a wrong turn. Dad gave in and let the GPS guide us. Thank god for that.
Mum did a good job at driving. It took us 1.5 hours to get to Portland. The hotel was really nice and fancy. The rooms looked over the harbor and everyday there was a new cruise ship to look at, along with other boats. It was great to be so close to the water and to ear the seagulls! It was peaceful.
We went out to a few bars and out for dinner. After walking around we ended up at an Indian restaurant. No surprises there as dad loves Indian. It was really nice. The next day we all went on a ferry tour of the surrounding islands. It was freezing! Mum and dad persisted going on the top of the boat with no cover. I could see it was going to rain, so Jordan and I stayed below. I'm glad we did. We saw lots of seals and the surrounding area. There was a tour guide talking about the history of the area, but Jordan and I didn't pay too much attention. The bar was down stairs and it was open!
Next it was Mum and I off shopping. We left Jordan looking at tattoo shops and Robbo at the library ( geek, ha ha )Mum and I looked at every single shop hoping to find something.....
All the stores were retro/vintage op shops. I did not buy anything! That was a little disappointing.
We got some lovely french cheese and some really nice cupcakes! I guess that was good.
On the way home we bumped into Jordan, who got another tattoo......
A very very small one. It's really cute. I will put photo up when he gets back.
That night it poured down with rain. We went to have dinner on this lovely boat but the restaurant was full. Never mind. We were off to the Irish pub for a drink and some dinner.
We had a lovely dinner and than we went to another pub. Very American. There were large TV's everywhere with sport on every channel. The music was blaring and there were tons of college kids out. It was like out of a movie. On the way home, people were crowding around a man telling ghost stories. We all ran past and pretended to be ghosts
Mum didn't think it was funny.
Another rainy day in Portland and all that shopping the previous day made me sick.
I had the flu. We planned to visit a large garden and an observatory on the way home.
But because it was raining we took mum and dad to Walmart instead and the mall.
It was like taking two little kids around.
Anyway we all had a good time in Portland.
It was really pretty and full of atmosphere.
Jordan and I are thinking of going back for the weekend.
I will post photos when Jordan gets back.
