Wednesday 18 July
Up early again after good nights sleep and packed while Lehel chatted up 3 young Polish girls who had hitch-hiked on 2 lorries from Warsaw to hike the mountains. Had breakfast together but they were getting hassled by bar owner so perhaps they'd promised him sexual favours for the bottle of brandy on the table. Had a laugh with them but had to wait ages for Lehel to exchange email addresses and continue to chat them up instead of getting ready. They left to go up the mountain and eventually Lehel was ready so we dropped down off the pass. I'm not the fastest descender so I said I'd see Lehel as the bottom, but surprisingly I was first down. After waiting half an hour I thought something could be wrong so started to climb back up. After 2k I found him putting sun tan lotion on and he explained he'd stopped to speak to other cyclists and again to look at the view. We followed the river down through very rural area and so hot we stopped for a beer. We'd heard the road ahead was under reconstruction so we decided to catch the train on that stretch so found the station after asking at local shop for times but they didn't know. Had a bit of a climb to the station and then told the train was in 5m so quickly brought a ticket and went for a wee after getting told off for an attempt on station masters garden. Fell asleep on train and we eventually arrived at Gura Humorului and we felt we'd made the correct decision after seeing the road works. Lehel met local while I was in supermarket and showed us to the local market. Said he'd take us to other monasteries by car, but I smelt a rat as he was trying to get us to stay in his rented accommodation. Spoke to him and he was full of bull shit but Lehel was insistent on meeting him next day after the guy had finished at a funeral. I told him I had no intention of going with him and had a big discussion about trusting people. Went to Humour monastery but Lehel didn't want to go in as we had no time but then proceeded to talk to cyclist outside for 30m. We cycled just up the road and found a good spot by hay stacks an Lehel cooked a good meal and I went straight to bed after washing up.
