After a fun weekend with 8 friends and a baby in the Twente region in the Netherlands, and having to be in Twente again 6 days later, I decided to spend the in between time holidaying.

Hiking in the Müllerthal region in Luxembourg was my main goal. This hotel in Ralingen - though in Germany by a few meters - was a convenient base. It turned out to be in a twin town: Ralingen in Germany, cross the bridge and you're in Rosport, Luxembourg.

 Tiny Ralingen
Plus sides: good price, fine room, extremely friendly staff, good & cheap restaurant (evenings too) / cafe with terrace overlooking a river, free parking, beautiful river and natural surroundings, borrow free hiking maps.
Minus sides: there really was no other cafe or restaurant in town, only a pizzeria in its Luxembourg twin Rosport. (Which was good on the Wednesday when the hotel restaurant turned out to be closed!)

Next time I'll look for a slightly more lively town.

Cheap petrol
In Luxembourg (the country) petrol has a government-regulated fix price at all the petrol stations in the country. And it's usually about €0.20 per liter (!) cheaper than in Germany, and €0.43 per liter cheaper than in the Netherlands. You can imagine I filled up my 55 liter tank a few times.
