Driving from Toledo (south of Madrid) to Sepúlveda (north of Madrid) I stopped in Segovia which is known for its 20 meter (60ft) tall Roman aquaduct. It was constructed without any mortar!

It was renovated only recently and the town is booming again because of it.

The plan was to stay for half an hour just to have a look at the impressive aquaduct from some angles. I got a free map and good advice at the tourist office.

I ended up staying 2 hours, what a beautiful town. The streets and buildings are picturesque, the views down into valleys are nice, and there is a fairytale-like palace.

It feels a bit like an open air museum, I didn't feel like I saw many locals.
