This weekend most of Gonzaga-in-Florence program went to Rome for the weekend but Kara and I didn't pay far enough in advance so we ended up staying in Florence. It was actually a blessing in disguise because Julie can from Paris to visit, Naime came from Salzburg to visit with her two friends, and Kerry came from Ireland to visit so it was a weekend filled with seeing friends! On Friday we met at the Duomo at 11:30 and had lunch at the Olive, the best sandwich shop ever! We then showed everyone around and it was fun to be with Julie because she spent the summer in Florence so she showed us the best Gelato, the most fun bars and where the prettiest views were. Kate, Kara and I went shopping after that and I started my European clothing collection! We then stopped for coffee on top of a department store that overlooked the city! It is our new favorite place! We then tried to go to Fiesole a small city outside of Florence that is fun to watch the sunset. However when we got to the bus stop we realized that the buses were on strike! So we took our picnic to the triangle bridge. The triangle bridge is a bridge across from the Pontevecchio with triangles that jut out from the sides and you can sit on them and usually only locals know about it but now we are locals so it's fun! Saturday we went to Pisa about noon.
When we got there it was pouring down rain! Not just sprinkling, it was literally coming down in sheets! So we bought over priced umbrellas and made our way to the leaning tower.
I wore flip flops and I kept stepping in puddles and getting splashed with water by passing cars. It sounds rough but we had so much fun! When we got to the Leaning Tower of Pisa we took a million pictures of us trying to hold it up and leaning against it!
After that we had some coffee and came back to Florence.
Sunday I just did some laundry and walked around the city. It was a relaxing weekend and I loved it! CIAO!
