Because we were to have a late night, my friends had scheduled True Dungeon for late morning on my birthday. True Dungeon is a full sized game where the large room has been set up into smaller dungeon type rooms with connecting halls, like a maze. Each of the 8 players assumes the role of a predetermined character and enters the dungeon as a group every 12 minutes. Each room presents a puzzle to figure out, a trap to disarm (by using an Operation type game requiring steady hands), some monster to kill (by playing a variation of bar shuffleboard, etc. We were a group of three and had decided which roles we wanted when the hard core True Dungeoneers arrived and promptly told us they were going to play those and we could pick something else. They had already gone through this thing yesterday. It costs thirty dollars each time but doesn't change. Okey dokey then. So we went through and solved the puzzles and slew the monsters and got to the very end when I went a little too fast for the last room's GM and he declared the whole party dead. Take that hard core Dungeoneer! More LFR in the afternoon and Tom and Rachel got me a birthday cake which we ate in the evening at the table while giving slices to our previous GM's. I almost forgot to mention that GenCon must have the highest per capita number of kilts outside of a Scottish war reenactment. I did not take pictures of this because I was afraid the image would burn into my camera forever scarring it. Like my memory of it.
