Of course this whole event is not done just out of the goodness of someone's heart. It's all about selling stuff. The dealer room or vendor space is the reason behind the madness. This is the large room filled with booths and displays with companies and individuals selling everything from dice to furniture. There are costume and clothing booths, real and fake daggers and swords, T-shirts with genre appropriate images and pithy sayings, paintings, pictures, video games, all sorts of game companies, books, magazines, trinkets, and jewelry. Some stand outs were the $9650.00 gaming table, the 'cleavage accent' jewelry (who knew?), and meeting the artists who do great work on the magazines, and books we were familiar with. As with every gathering of this type, they have 'stars' with whom you can take pictures and get autographs. This year they were lame including David Faustino (Bud from Married with Children), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca from Star Wars), the people who play Hygena, the Defuser, and Feedback (all of whom I am unfamiliar with, thank goodness), and two female 'wrestlers'. I can't think of a way to scare a crowd like this more than with a thin, pretty woman who can toss you like a rag doll since the typical attendee is white, balding, overweight, middle aged men with pasty skin who are shy introverts outside of their one passion in life.
