We spent the day in Venice wandering the streets, eating pizza by the canals, and finding a mask making company. The boys chose their own masks and went through the process of making them! They had a lot of fun and were thrilled with their outcomes! We also went to the famous Rilato bridge where scored a authentic Italy soccer jersey ! When the owner asked what team Aidan wanted, Aidan replied "Brazil"....the owner simply and poetically said" I kill you now" was soooo funny! Alas, there was no jersey for him! Hehe! We went back to shower and clean up and walked into the residential area of Venice and found a restaurant that Trip Advisor recommended as authentic Italian! We were walking through streets lined with laundry lines, where children were playing soccer in the alley, where nonno's were sitting at tables conversing! It was this last place we looked at and realized it was a restaurant! From the facade looked like a dive, but out back there was a beautiful terrace! We ate beautifully, drinking home made wine and thoroughly enjoyed the evening! We found some gelato and made our way back to the square for a repeat performance of last evening.

We spent the next morning getting lost again and by mid day we were ready to leave. The is a, a ton of walking through Venice, and I am so glad we only brought the 2 carry on luggages! The drive from Venice to Tuscany went very smoothly, well we did have to navigate the gas station but that was not trouble, just different! We could tell we were approaching Tuscany because the terrain of the region changed from very flat to valleys and mountains. We started to go through the tunnels in the mountains and long and high bridges. The views were breathtaking! Ed started making his way up the mountain, through winding roads and we settled in at Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort.This villa from the13th century, now produces its own brand of olive oil and contains a restaurant which uniquely adds their oil to dishes. The views were stunning! We quickly jumped into the pool to cool off and enjoyed the view! We had made reservation at the restaurant which was on the terrace overlooking the region! The kids were able to run around the grounds while I had a glass of Procecco, followed by 3different bruschetta with 3 samples of olive oil, spaghetti with. Olive oil and buffalo mozzarella with olive oil and at last olive oil ice cream! That was a lot of olive oil...and it was very spiced! The weather was perfect, the food delicious and it was an evening to remember!
