Today we were visiting various sites through the sacred valley.
The first site we visited was Sacsayhuamen a megalithic fortress which overlooks Cusco. Little of the inner structures remain but the outer walls are largely in tact. The largest block weighs more than 300 tonnes. They have stayed in the same position for hundreds of years even though there is no mortar.
We then visited a llama and alpaca farm - you could feed them and get up really close to them. Quite a cool place but all the llama and alpaca goods are extortionately priced! However you know it is the real stuff.
We visited some more ruins and saw some huge farming terraces - it is quite an astonishing site. How on earth they built them is beyond us!
Julie was still very ill so she spent the day on the bus.
We spent the night in Ollantaytambo town. When we arrived there is was dark so we could not appreciate its beauty. We forgot to take our torches with us and had to stumble our way back avoiding deep holes, buses and tuk tuks on the way!!
