Saturday to Tuesday
Today we went to Cusco on a 7 hour bus journey. Julie started with an upset stomach on Friday night so she was on the immodium straight away this morning (the buses do not do toilet stops!). When we arrived in Cusco, we were pleasantly surprised, it is a lovely town - very european but you get hassled with sales people selling postcards, massages, trips etc etc. It is like we are in Lanzarote again!
We had till Tuesday in Cusco as most of the group went to the jungle. This gave us a well deserved rest. Julie unfortunately spent all of this time in bed - only leaving her hotel room for very plain food. For breakfast one morning she had chicken and rice after starving herself for 36 hours. This unfortunately did not solve the upset stomach problem and we had to call the doctor on Monday evening. $74 later and Julie was on 2 antibiotics for suspected parasites - lovely! The doctor blamed Bolivio for poor sanitation!
There are lots of things to see and do in Cusco - numerous galleries, museums and lots of shops! One of the most interesting was the monastry which houses Inca walls in near perfect conditions even after earthquakes. They were very clever!
