Thursday
This afternoon we drove to Corumba. There is absoulutely nothing to do in Corumba - so we had to have a pool party with pizza and beer! The bar closed at 11.30 though and we were asked to leave (we weren´t making that much noise!).
Half the group went to the local bar including Julie who arrived back at 4am! She managed to wake me up by not been able to lock the door and then walked into my feet! Oh dear. She tells me there was a live samba band which were fantastic and the locals always like to teach the foreigners the dance moves!!!
Friday
Julie was not up to much as you can expect but we had a few hours to waste until we crossed the Bolivian border so we went shopping. There really is nothing to do in Corumba.
Crossing the border was interesting, there was only half a road tarmaced! Just before we got off the bus to immigration, Alvero told us we weren´t to say he was our tour leader because the military know tour guides have alot of Gringo/money on them. They would follow him and take money from him through any means necessary. We were abit on edge after this but thankfully everything went smoothly.
We then had to change our money into Bolivianos, which we did outside immigration on the road with a guy called Pinnochio (Honestly!!). From here we went to the airport to fly to Santa Cruz - however this did not go as smoothly as we would of liked (I think we are jinxed!)
At the airport, half the group got boarding cards and half didn´t because of a problem with a booking number. The plane was due to take off at 5.15pm and just before this we got hand written boarding cards with no seat numbers on and just our name. We had to run for the flight and were told where to sit! We´re getting used to the South American way!
